Media Art Biennale

I've visited a Media Art Biennale with my friend. It was great
because not only the works themselves are wonderful but
admission fee was even free, too~!!

There were three topics : Light, Communication, Time.
Personally I liked the second part the most. It was relatively more
interesting and was not boring. There were many interactive arts, and I liked that point the
most-if I walk around with a red lighted ball in hand, beautiful butterflies that are made up of
light gathers around me. It really made me feel dreamy...

This red picture at the right side of this is the one I can remember until
now. It symbolizes the rotation of life. Bed itself is a place where people
give birth to a baby, and die. Through a fine line and ascending smoke, the
artist tried to expresse that the birth and death-the whole life itself- is
rotating.

At this Biennale, I realized that the boundary of art is far more vast than
what I've thought until now. The videos, images and other more every day stuffs can be an art.
If we hold a new point of view and think more, maybe we can get more from our lives, and lead
more mentally affluent life.

10 things I hate about you

http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=G7VQd84nNfE

This song "Can't take my eyes off you" was sang by Heath Ledger who is now dead.
I knew who he is after he died, and was quite impressed by his act at "The Dark Knight". My friend who is really into movies told me that Heath got into a hotel room, stayed there writing a diary as if he were a Joker to concentrate on a role he received. After hearing that story I think he was a passionate, hard working person, though I don't know much about him.
Every girls around me recommended me to see a movie "10 things I hate about you", just because of a 5 minute when Heath sings "Can't take my eyes off you". So I searched that video on the internet-actually I haven't seen the whole movie- and this URL up there is that. Well, I'm not really into him but I admit that scene was romantic.

The Glory of Persia ☆

This is an exhibition that I went last summer. A sunny Wednesday, I went Ichon with my friend. There located a national meseum of Korea. This exhibition was about Persia.

Because it was a weekday, not many people were there. So we could look around without haste. As advertised, there were many relics related to the 'gold'. They arranged artifacts in a chronological order; from Iranian prehistoric period to the Sassanian dynasty. They also posted brief historical knowledges related to Persia. Here are some informations about that-this is just a part.

Birth of the Persian Empire: The Achaemenid Dynasty

The Achaemenid Dynasty constructed an empire which stretched from the Indus Valley to the northern tip of Africa between 550 and 520 BCE. Cyrus the Great exercised lenient policies toward conquered people, as did Darius the Great. The empire had a dependable network of officials, and efficinet road system and an extensive canal.

Hellenism&Parthia

After the military campaign of Alexander to Great, the king of Macedonia, Persia came under the rule of Seleucid dynasty.

The Sassanian Dynasty

The Sassanian dynasty amassed wealth through trade activity along the Silk Road, and this exchange of material culture aided the spread of Persian art and culture. The Persian influence disseminated through Central Asia and China, and, along the aforementioned trade route, into Silla.

It was glad to read this at there. I learned international history when I was in the middle school. I thought it was interesting at that time, and this was the first time that heard about Achaemenid, Sassanian Dynasties.

The most impressive thing there were cylinder seals, in my case. Thepicture in the left is a cylinder seal-I guess it's not the one exhibited in this exhibition. I thought that we just stamp a seal then a pattern come out. However, we should roll the cylinder seal to see the whole pattern carved on the seal. Look at the left picture. The white thing on the left is a cylinder seal. A long pattern printed on the right is the imprint of the seal. We should roll it againt something, not just stamp it.

Well, It was the first time for me and my friend to visit the exhibition about Persia, so it was good to see that. To me, Persia reminds me of something mysterious and flourishy. The title of this exhibition was 'The Glory of Persia'. Maybe most people have similar image about Persia-even the planner of this show thought in the same way as I. As a whole, it was a good exhibition that reassured me of the glorious image of Persia.

The Phrase I Like!!

Love, like you've never been hurt.

Dance, like nobody is watching you.

Sing, like nobody is listening you.

Work, like you don't need money.

Live, like today is the last day to live.

These are phrases I like. I like last line the most. I wrote that line on the papaer and used to read it when I become lazy. It helped me to do my best when I was in high school.
Well, second and third lines are hard to do for me ;P, but it reminds me of my high school days. By the way, I think there was another line like, 'Dream, like you will die tomorrow.' wasn't it??

A Lovely Place~^ㅇ^

I've visited a restaurant and a cafe with Jenny. They were both located in Ichon and were lovely places!!

This left one is a restaurant that sells pasta, steak, wine and so on. We ate a set menu that includes salad, pasta, a kind of french toast and sausages. The owner seems kind and food itself was satisfying. As the size of store was small, it was cozy.

After eating there, we walked to a cafe to eat cake. The road of Ichon was fresh, I mean, I felt different atmosphere walking there from what I've felt walking the roads of the other places like Myeongdong, etc. I've seen some unique stores and signboards at the roadside.

Anyway, we went into the cafe named 'C4 cake factory'. We ordered two cups of Americano, a piece of banana tart, and a piece of orange and grapefruit tart. The atmosphere of cafe was bright and lovely. Most of all, the cake itself tasted great. It was the best cake I've ever eaten. The cream, fruits, bread all harmonized and melted in the mouth.'-'

It was good to visit there!! I think it will be one of my favorite cake houses. ^^*
