A big day!!

Last Sunday was really a big day for me. Suneum, the amateur orchestra I am in, had a concert. From 10:30a.m., we gathered and started to post posters which notifies when and where our concert will be hold. We made a team and posted it all over the campus-on the stairs, on the road, etc. (Of course we took all that off later that day.) As the weather was so sunny and even scorching that afternoon, I thought I would be burnt. After we finished posting them, we were given 2 hours to eat lunch, change our clothes(every performer had to wear black suit that day), and do make up.
After the busy two hours passed, we gathered again at 3:50p.m. A guest conductor and guest players came, and regular members of our orchestra also changed their clothes and appearance totally, it became whole new group. :D Anyway we started rehearsal and it lasted about 2 hours. I, similar to what most of the members felt, started feeling nervous a little bit as it was first time for me to be on the stage and play the flute in front of such a lot of people. (I play flute in the orchestra-but not a quite good player, I suppose.;;) Actually I also felt a little bit worried that my friends who promised to come to see me playing would be late and can't come in. Anyway tictoc tictoc time passed away, and finally the time came for us to go out.
As I faced the reality, I found myself staying cool. I walked in proudly with my glittering lovely flute and sat down. With the conductor's action, music started. Music that was first played was Czech Suite of Dvorak. It consists of 5 small ones and flutes start to play from third one, I looked through the seat listening to the music other members were making. More people came than I've though but I felt quite disappointed not finding my friends. And the time for me to play came. Time really flied. I just put the lips over the flute and blew a little bit, but Czech Suite was already over!! Then I was given 15 minutes break. I was asked to come out of the waiting room, because my friends wanted to see me closely. :0 It was quite relieved to know that they came. Also it was fun to talk with them. They-my favorite friends- were still talkative and merry. Good for them! But they just bought me flowers for gift but I felt sorry as I was expecting something possible to eat-I was hungry that time. Flute
requires so much energy to play!!
Second part of the concert started. Second
music, Beethoven Symphonie No.7, arranges more instruments and the volume of sound is bigger than Czech Suite. So I must have thought 'Even though I make small mistakes, it will be covered'. My being less nervous at that time proves it. A s expected, it was delightful to play this music. In 3rd movement, it really sounded like birds were singing. But the most unexpected and funny event happened at the end, at a curtain call. We played "Main theme of 'Mission Impossible' ". Suddenly some guest players popped up and started to shot a toy gun, as if they were actually fighting in the movie-Mission Impossible. :) Everyone including me seems they can't help laughing. In that joyful atmosphere, the concert finally ended!! It was good, refreshing, and made me think it was one of my best choice to become a member of a orchestra-whether it's amateur orchestra or not. But meanwhile the times I spent practicing the flute and preparing for the concert came up to my mind. Well..so to speak, it was a impressive experience for me. I'm already excited to have next chance to do the concert~!:D
